What is this?
Treatment for those annoying “number 11” angry looking lines that become etched in between your eyebrows and seem to get deeper and deeper year by year – frown lines!
How does this work?
By using an anti wrinkle injection we stop, or decrease the muscle (glabellar and corrugator) between the eyebrows from contracting strongly. By relaxing this muscle the skin in the area also relaxes and therefore creases much less, or even not at all!
Will this treatment work for me?
The optimal time to start with anti wrinkle injections is when you notice the creases are still visible in the skin whilst that muscle is at rest. These are called static lines and the deeper they become the more difficult they are to reduce. There is, however, no need to start anti wrinkle injections when you only have dynamic lines (that means they completely disappear again when you are not moving the muscle) because your collagen is still strong enough to withstand the effects of permanent damage.
How long does it last?
The average treatment result lasts approximately 3-4 months from the date of treatment. There are, however, no guarantees for the longevity of the product as different people metabolise it at a different rate. Sometimes the longevity may even vary in the same person during different periods of their life depending on things like life stressors, illness, increased/decreased exercise, medications, climate, etc.
How much product will I need?
This relates to the size of the muscle, if you have previously had a treatment, how quickly you tend to metabolise the product, your age, and if you like a very subtle change or a very smooth appearance. Men will usually require more product than women. Older people will usually require a higher dose than younger people.
What if it doesn’t work?
If your muscle turns out to be stronger than expected, it is very simple to repeat the procedure with a higher dosage of product for increased effect. Just remember that you can always put more in, but you can’t take it out, so it is better to start with a slightly more conservative treatment and increase the dose at your follow up appointment.
Does it work straight away?
You will find that the muscle usually weakens in approximately 7-10 days but can range between 3-14 days. After this time the skin will begin to smooth, depending on how deep the lines were to start with.
What are the possible side effects specific to this treatment?
Localised side effects include redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising.
A rare side effect of muscle relaxer injections in the frown area is a phenomenon called “ptosis“, meaning “drooping”. This can occur in two areas – centrally which makes the eyebrow area next to the nose become a little heavy and even possibly low a few millimetres, or in the eyelid itself which can cause a heavy feeling and even possibly prevent the affected eyelid from opening as much as the unaffected side. Usually these side effects will only last a few weeks and may not even be noticeable to others, however there is a chance that the symptoms can become noticeable to others and last approximately 6 weeks. None of these side effects are permanent and will always disappear completely when the injections wear off. By adhering to your recommended aftercare instructions provided to you at your appointment, the risk of the side effects is very low.
Please note that this is not a complete list of general side effects related to wrinkle treatment injections, but those related specific to this area being treated. For a more complete list of side effects, please do not hesitate to contact us directly.
What happens if I don’t do it again?
If you have only had the treatment once and don’t want to repeat the muscle relaxer injections in the future, the area will return back to how it was before the treatment – generally no better and no worse.
If you have used muscle relaxer injections to the area for a few years, you may gain a longer term benefit as the collagen in the skin will not be as damaged as it would have otherwise been without wrinkle relaxers and your skin, in most cases, will remain smoother.

Localised side effects include redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising.
People with a tendency to suffer from puffiness under the eyes may experience increased puffiness due to the lack of muscle function to drain lymphatic fluid. This is temporary but can be avoided by using a lower starting dose in people with puffy under eyes. Occasionally if the orbicularis oculi muscle is completely relaxed, a phenomenon called “shelving” can occur. This is when the cheek muscle pushes up when smiling and the eye muscle cannot counterbalance this movement. It literally forms what looks like a “shelf” under the eyes. Again this is temporary but can be avoided by using a lower starting dose in high risk people.

People with very low sitting brows or heavy eyelids will need to be cautious when considering this treatment. The frontalis muscle is the ONLY muscle in the forehead that elevates the brow, therefore if it is completely frozen it may cause what is called a “brow droop”. This means that the eyebrows will sit lower than usual and the eyelids will become heavier resulting in an aged appearance. It can also affect makeup application as the brow cannot be elevated to apply mascara or eyeshadow. This “heaviness” is temporary, but can be avoided by using a lower starting dose in high risk people.

What is this?
Treatment for this who have noticed their brows are sitting lower over time, or those who have naturally low sitting brows and would like them slightly elevated.
How does this work?
By using a muscle relaxant injection we decrease the muscle orbicularis oculi around the sides and under the brow from contracting strongly. By relaxing this muscle the forehead muscle will automatically lift the eyebrows higher with it natural elevating action.
Will this treatment work for me?
Using a muscle relaxant for a brow lift can be more effective for some people than others. Because it works by relaxing the downward pulling muscles so that that upward pulling muscles have proportionately more strength, results may vary according to each individual. In people with very strong forehead frontalis muscle, more lift can be achieved than in someone who has little movement in their forehead.
How long does it last?
The average treatment result lasts approximately 3-4 months from the date of treatment. You will find that the visible effects of the muscle relaxer injections occur in approximately 7-10 days but can range between 3-14 days. After this time the brows will begin to lift.
What are the possible side effects specific to this treatment?
Localised side effects include redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising.
These muscle relaxer injections can be very close to the eye so that it is important to stick to the aftercare information provided. There is a risk of the product moving upwards into the lower forehead muscle (frontalis) causing a “brow droop” rather than a lift. At the same time there is also the risk of the product moving down into the delicate eyelid muscle causing “eyelid droop” which causes the eyelid not to open as much as usual. These symptoms can occur on one or both sides. They are both temporary side effects but can be avoided by using a lower starting dose in high risk people.
Please note that this is not a complete list of general side effects related to wrinkle treatment injections, but those related specific to this area being treated. For a more complete list of side effects, please do not hesitate to contact us directly.

This is one procedure where having the treatment done over an extended period of time will not change or improve the position of the brows in the long term. To maintain the results of a brow lift, the treatment will need to be repeated regularly.

What is this?
Treatment for those annoying lines that become etched in next to your nose and are caused by scrunching up the nose like a bunny.

Localised Side effects – redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising. Generally there are no significant side effects related to the treatment of bunny lines with a wrinkle relaxer. Because, however, the nasalis muscle does not work independently to scrunch up the nose, you may need to consider treating other areas such as the glabella (central frown) as this may also impact on the strength an severity of the “bunny scrunch”. In some people the bunny lines cannot be completely relaxed because there is a muscle levator labii superioris that assists with smiling which may also be recruited by the “bunny scrunch” and we definitely do not want to impact someone’s smile by relaxing these muscles too much.

What is this?
Treatment for lines above the top lip, known as “smokers lines”. Also used to stop the top lip thinning when smiling, known as the “lip flip”.
How does this work?
By using a wrinkle relaxer injection we decrease the orbicularis oris muscle around the mouth (upper lip) from contracting strongly. By relaxing this muscle the skin in the area also relaxes and therefore creases much less. The lip will also contract less when smiling creating a fuller upper lip appearance.

If the wrinkle relaxer spreads too close to the middle of the lip it can flatten the cupids bows, if it spreads too laterally to the corners of the mouth it may affect the smile. If an excessive amount of wrinkle relaxer is injected into the upper lip it may actually have the opposite effect and drop the top lip down. These are all temporary but can be avoided by using a lower starting dose and increasing this at the follow up appointment to achieve the desired result.

What is this?
When you smile the upper lip is lifted by a combination of muscles, which can lead to an excessive amount of gingival (gum) show in some people.
How does this work?
By using a muscle relaxer we decrease the some of the above muscles contracting strongly. By relaxing these muscles slightly the upper lip relaxes down and therefore less gum will show when smiling.
Will this treatment work for me?
If you smile and can see there is an excessive amount of gum visible above your top teeth, then this treatment is appropriate for you. There is no exact amount that defines “excessive”, it is based on whether or not your gum showing is of concern to you.
How long does it last?
The average treatment result lasts approximately 3-4 months from the date of treatment. There are, however, no guarantees for the longevity of the product as different people metabolise it at a different rate. What are the possible side effects specific to this treatment?
Localised Side effects include redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising.
Because the muscles that elevate the smile are very close to each other, Levator Labii Superioris or LLS, Zygomaticus Minor or ZMi, and Levator Labii Superioris Alequi Nasii or LLSAN, there is a risk of dropping to upper lip excessively, leading to an unnatural smile. This is temporary but can be avoided by using a lower starting dose in high risk people.

What are the possible side effects specific to this treatment?
Localised side effects include redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising.
The depressor anguli oris or DAO muscle overlaps with the muscle depressor labii inferioris or DLI that pulls down the lower lip. For this reason a possible side effect could be a lopsided smile if the product moves deeper into the DLI muscle one one side. This is temporary but can be avoided by using a lower starting dose in high risk people.

What is this?
There is a thin layer of muscle that runs down the neck called the Platysma. When this muscle is strong it tends to make the jawline less defined. By relaxing this muscle and the strong “bands” that it can form, the jawline regains definition.
-
What is this?
Many people with a strong jawline would like to make their face look slimmer but do not want to undergo surgery.
Jawline contouring uses muscle relaxers to make the jaw look more narrow.
How does this work?
By using a wrinkle relaxer the jaw muscle Masseter becomes weaker. After the muscle becomes weaker its size will also become smaller over time. Compare it to going to the gym – the more you use a muscle the stronger (and bigger) it will become. Stop the training and your muscles will shrink right down again!
The Masseter muscle is the strongest muscle in the body for its size so it has great capacity to reshape the face once it is less active.
Will this treatment work for me?
A great way to check if your Masseter muscle is very strong and would respond well to this type of treatment is to feel right at the back of your jaw, the part just below your cheeks and infront of your earlobe, and bite together hard. If you can feel a very strong bulge then you will have great results. If you bite together hard whilst just looking at that same area and you can see a bulge, then the treatment will work even better on you!
Is it the same treatment you use to stop me grinding my teeth at night?
Yes, this is exactly the same treatment for both concerns.
How long does it last?
The average treatment result lasts approximately 4-6 months from the date of treatment. There are however no guarantees for the longevity of the product as different people metabolise it at a different rate.
How much product will I need?
This relates to the size of the muscle, if you have previously had a treatment and how quickly you tend to metabolise the product. Because the muscle is a “mechanical muscle” rather than a “muscle of facial expression”, slightly higher doses are needed to treat the Masseter muscle. This does also tend to reflect in a slightly longer lasting result than for other areas.
What if it doesn’t work?
If your muscle turns out to be stronger than expected, it is very simple to repeat the procedure with a higher dosage of product for increased effect. Just remember that you can always put more in, but you can’t take it out, so it is better to start with a slightly more conservative treatment.

You will find that the muscle weakens at the same rate as the “muscles of facial expression”, being approximately 1-2 weeks. The slimming effect does however take up to 4-6 weeks to notice. This is because once the muscle is weakened, it takes some time for the fibres to shrink and for the bulkiness to decrease.
What are the possible side effects specific to this treatment?
Localised side effects include redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising. Starting with too high a dosage may weaken the muscle to a point where chewing can become difficult. In rare cases, as the muscle becomes weaker and it loses its tone, a slight bulging of the muscle can occur which is temporary and can be treated with a slightly higher dose of product.
Please note that this is not a complete list of general side effects related to wrinkle treatment injections, but those related specific to this area being treated. For a more complete list of side effects, please do not hesitate to contact us directly.
What happens if I don’t do it again?
If you have only had the treatment once and never want to do it again, it will rebuild its strength and bulk over approximately 6 months to return back to how it was before the treatment – generally no better and no worse.
If you have had the treatment for longer periods of time, you may gain a longer term benefit and the muscle may not become as strong as it once was. This will however vary from person to person.

What is this?
Scientifically proven to reduce the frequency, severity or even completely eliminate migraines in some migraine suffers.

What is this?
Treatment for those who suffer excessive sweating under the arms, hands or feet using muscle relaxers that also decrease sweat gland activity.
How does this work?
Muscle relaxers work by stopping the chemical Acetylcholine which is released from our nerve endings, from attaching to receptors on the sweat gland and therefore preventing sweating.
Will this treatment work for me?
If you sweat excessively and it is impacting your confidence, or even how you live life on a daily basis then this is a treatment that you should consider.
How long does it last?
The average treatment result lasts approximately 6-8 months from the date of treatment. There are, however, no guarantees for the longevity of the product as different people metabolise it at a different rate. Sometimes the longevity may even vary in the same person during different periods of their life depending on things like life stressors, illness, increased/decreased exercise, medications, climate, etc.
How much product will I need?
This relates to how much you sweat, how quickly you tend to metabolise the product, your age, and if you like a very subtle change or a very smooth appearance. Men will usually require more product than women. Older people will usually require a higher dose than younger people.

What if it doesn’t work?
If your sweat glands are stronger than expected, it is very simple to repeat the procedure with a higher dosage of product for increased effect. Just remember that you can always put more in, but you can’t take it out, so it is better to start with a slightly more conservative treatment and increase the dose at your follow up appointment.
Does it work straight away?
You will find that excessive sweating usually decreases in approximately 7-10 days but can range between 3-14 days. After this time you may experience no sweating or sweating only during exercise/high stress situations.
What are the possible side effects specific to this treatment?
Localised side effects including redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising.
In some cases it is possible that sweating may increase on other areas of the body, such as the back, to compensate for the decreased amount of sweat released from the under arm sweat glands. Very rarely can there be slight weakness in the muscles under the area treated, should the muscle relaxer injections move too deeply. This is generally avoided by injecting very superficially into the dermis of the skin only, however if it occurs it is temporary but can be avoided by using a lower starting dose in high risk people.
Sweat gland function fully recovers after the muscle relaxer has worn off and you will need to repeat the treatment for maintained effects.
